Greater Rochester Enterprise President and CEO Mark S. Peterson received the 2009 "Robert A. Clinger Outstanding Professional Fundraiser" award today at the "Change the World with a Giving Heart" luncheon presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Genesee Valley Chapter. The award honors an outstanding individual fundraising professional who practices his or her profession in an exemplary manner. Held on National Philanthropy Day, the luncheon pays tribute to individuals, companies and other organizations for their contributions to the community.

" I am humbled to receive this tremendous honor," Peterson said. "It means a great deal to me to be able to help Rochester's exemplary non-profit organizations in any way that I can. There is no feeling quite like working together to get something special accomplished."

During his 26-year career, Peterson has raised more than $120 million for charities from across the country. Before joining GRE, Peterson served as President of Bishop Kearney High School. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer at Telecomp. Inc., Director of Major Gifts at Hiram College, and Vice President at Philanthropy Management Inc. He has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive since 1992.

In addition to his duties as President and CEO of GRE, Peterson is an associate faculty member with the Department of Public Administration at SUNY Brockport and serves as Vice Chairman of the board of directors for Continuing Developmental Services as well as co-founder of St. John Bosco Schools. He resides with his family in Webster.
